Tea O'Clock Hawaii sits comfortably along Mamalahoa Highway in Waimea, serving as a laid-back cafe destination that blends island flavors with a focused tea and coffee craft. This spot draws a steady local crowd, from farmers market regulars to visitors exploring the Big Island, looking for a refreshing midday pause or a casual catch-up over drinks.

The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, with friendly staff who take time to customize your order and chat about the island. It’s the sort of place where you can pop in for a quick pick-me-up or settle in with friends without feeling rushed. The cafe’s mix of traditional and inventive drinks appeals to both tea enthusiasts and coffee lovers, spotlighting locally roasted White Nene Coffee alongside ceremonial Uji matcha blends.

Drinks are layered with care—smooth matcha lattes, vibrant ube milk teas, and house-specialty iced creations like the Watermelon Sugar High Hibiscus and Scenic Point Strawberry provide standout options. Fresh, soft boba pearls add a textural twist that locals appreciate, making it a quiet competitor for taste and quality in a town that doesn’t flood with bubble tea joints. A modest food offering, including items like a well-praised tuna melt, rounds out an afternoon stop nicely.

The best times to visit are mid-morning to afternoon when the shop hums with light conversation and the island’s slower pace feels most tangible. Whether you’re winding down after a morning ride through Waimea’s rural roads or taking shelter from occasional island rains, Tea O’Clock offers a casual atmosphere that encourages lingering. The local feel is reinforced by staff recommendations for nearby spots to explore, making it a good launchpad for travelers aiming to soak in more than just the view.

Expect a spot that balances the laid-back Hawaiian pace with carefully executed beverages—Tea O’Clock Hawaii serves up liquid refreshment that feels both rooted in place and attentive to detail, suited for anyone who enjoys tea or coffee with a personal touch. It’s not about hustle or flash; it’s where quality and island friendliness meet in a simple storefront.

We first saw them at the farmers market and then knew we had to come again. Absolutely love their ube lattes and their matcha. It’s a quality spot for sure!

I stopped by this boba shop during my vacation on the Big Island, and it was such a great experience! The staff member who helped us was incredibly patient and friendly. He adjusted my drink exactly how I like it without any hesitation and even gave us some awesome recommendations on places to check out around the island. It really felt like he loved what he does and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed both our drinks and our trip. Highly recommend stopping by! great service, great vibes, and delicious boba!

I wasn’t expecting such FREAKING AWESOME boba drinks in Waimea but they were spectacular. What makes them so good? The boba was perfectly soft fresh and chewy. The matcha was smooth and not bitter. The presentation was so pretty with all the layers and the food was good too. The people working were so friendly and you can order online so everything was ready when we got there.

Real authentic tea made from tea leaves, hand made tapioca, ceremonial grade matcha, and it was all so yummy at a very reasonable price! Arlene one of the owners was very kind and helped us pick the perfect beverage for each of us! Photographed: BLT and Matcha‼

We absolutely love Tea o’clock !! Since we live kona side I always look forward to coming down for the farmers market to enjoy their drinks from their mobile truck. It’s always a special treat ! When I saw that they opened up a shop I was over the moon happy! I don’t have to wait for our once a month visit anymore! I had no idea they’ve been open now for a couple years !! Their place is so clean and cute and comfortable. The drinks .. all the drinks are the best, made from fresh quality ingredients. Ofcorse Matcha Kiss is my absolute favorite. This time I enjoyed the visit with my sons and we had so much fun playing games they had available. We stayed for over an hour just enjoying eachother company laughing and taking story with the sweet owners who gave the boys their attention as they asked different questions about the drinks. Mom and son dates are important to me so being able to just relax and enjoy our time was the best. We will be coming back more regularly for sure !! Thank you guys for making our ohana feel welcomed! If you haven’t already it’s worth the drive Whether you stay in or mobile order or just to go you’ll love it !!

Came here after the beach to cool down! Great little boba shop with seating for about 10 ppl. Excellent service! We ordered and in a minute or two our order was done! I ordered the classic milk tea with boba, and my friends tried their ube milk tea & a matcha blueberry also with boba! Everyone loved the fresh boba! Their bobas are super unique as they make them! Certainly a labour of love! Fresh boba is unique and something you have to try! We will certainly be back! They are also at the farmer's market so look out for them! Great way to get my boba fix when travelling in Waimea
